Who I Am
What I Love To Do
How It Started
Since I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with business. I always loved the idea of running my own business and being able to have the freedom to do the things I love and at the same time have a profitable business.
It didn’t turn out that way, however. When I graduated high school, I landed an internship working for my school district in the IT department. I found that I loved the work and when my internship came to an end, I reached out to my supervisor. After doing some work, he was able to offer me an extra four months of work that would sustain me through the fall. I was working part-time and going to school, and my life was in a good spot.
When that ended, I was lost. I really didn’t know what I wanted to do and I was honestly fairly miserable in school. I did some looking and found that there was a job at a local school that I qualified for doing some of the same things I was doing while I had my internship. I applied and got the job a month later. What I quickly realized, however, was that I was not cut out for a 40-hour work week. Having suffered a severe stroke nine years prior, stamina has always been a challenge for me. And to be honest, running around a large school all day was less than ideal. Add to that, I had a 30-minute commute each way. I left my house by 6:15 every day and didn’t get home until almost 5:00 most days. I faced severe burnout, and add to that I just wasn’t happy.
Entrepreneurship
When I realized that I needed more out of life, I looked to the world of entrepreneurship. I started doing some brainstorming about what I wanted to do and eventually landed on affiliate blogging. I spent a few months creating a blog in the music niche. Having been a drummer for over a decade of my life, it was a natural transition and something that was easy for me to write about. I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted, so I eventually shifted focus.
It took me some time to figure out what it was I wanted to blog about and do in conjunction with my blogging, but eventually I realized that I had a massive interest in the world of business and self-employment. It took a bit of time, but eventually I landed on course creation. I realized that I enjoyed helping and teaching other people, but didn’t want to do it in a more “traditional” environment.
Where I am now
Since making the decision to become self-employed, I have spent a lot of my time doing the things I love. I have multiple online courses in the works, all of which I plan on launching sometime this year.
